350mm Silver Brazed Diamond Blade for Asphalt and New Concrete — VCT1535080
The VCT B1 VCT1535080) is a 350mm silver brazed diamond blade engineered for wet cutting of asphalt, new and green concrete, soft sandstones, breeze blocks, and abrasive refractory materials. The deep draft segment design with undercut protection prevents segment undercutting on hard materials, extending blade life significantly on road and pavement cutting applications. Rated to 4,366 RPM / 80m/s. Fits floor saws and road saws with a 25.4mm bore.
Product Details
The VCT B1 (VCT1535080) is a 350mm silver brazed diamond blade purpose-built for cutting asphalt and new concrete — two of the most hard and segment-destructive materials encountered on South African road construction and civil engineering sites. While superficially similar to other 350mm blades in the VCT range, this blade is engineered around a specific challenge unique to asphalt and new concrete: undercut protection.
Asphalt and freshly poured green concrete are hard materials that wear through diamond segments at the outer edge faster than at the base, creating a ‘mushroom’ or undercut profile that causes premature segment loss. The VCT B1 (VCT1535080) addresses this directly with a deep draft segment design — segments that are wider at the base than at the cutting face — which protects against undercut wear and maintains segment integrity through the full working life of the blade.
Manufactured under the Vus Cutting Technology house brand and silver brazed for reliable wet cutting performance, this is a high-performance, long-life blade for road paving crews, civil contractors, and plant hire companies who cut asphalt and new concrete daily.
Best For
- Hard aggregate abrasive asphalt on road construction and repair projects
- New and green concrete — freshly poured slabs, driveways, and infrastructure
- Medium to soft sandstones on construction and landscaping sites
- Breeze blocks and lightweight masonry containing abrasive aggregate
- Abrasive refractory materials in industrial applications
- Road paving and resurfacing crews cutting asphalt daily
- Civil engineering contractors on new concrete infrastructure projects
- Plant hire companies supplying floor saws and road saws to the construction industry
Deep Draft Segment Design — What It Means and Why It Matters
Standard segmented diamond blades use segments with straight sides — the cutting face is the same width as the base. This works well on hard, dense materials like old concrete and hard masonry where wear is even across the segment face.
On asphalt and new concrete, the opposite problem occurs. These hard materials wear the outer diamond layer very quickly, cutting away the segment from the outside inward. On a standard segment, this creates an undercut — the segment becomes narrower at the base than at the top — which weakens the brazed bond and leads to premature segment loss, blade wobble, and ultimately blade failure.
The deep draft design used in the VCT B1 (VCT1535080) counters this by engineering additional material into the base of each segment. As the outer layer wears under hard cutting conditions, the segment retains structural integrity and bond strength at the base, preventing undercut failure and keeping the blade cutting cleanly and safely for longer. The result is more metres cut per blade on asphalt and new concrete compared to standard segment designs.

How This Blade Differs from the VCT B1 Old Concrete Blade (VCT1535030)
Both blades share the B1 model name and the same physical dimensions — 350mm diameter, 25.4mm bore, 15mm segment height, silver brazed construction, and 4,366 RPM max speed. The critical difference is in the segment bond formulation and segment geometry, which are engineered for opposite material types:
- VCT B1 VCT1535030 (Old Concrete / Hard Masonry): Softer bond matrix that releases diamond particles quickly to stay sharp on dense, hard, non-abrasive cured concrete and masonry.
- VCT B1 VCT1535080 (Asphalt / New Concrete): Harder bond matrix with deep draft segment geometry to resist rapid abrasive wear and undercut failure on soft, hard asphalt and new concrete.
Using the wrong blade for the material will significantly shorten blade life. If you are cutting asphalt or freshly poured concrete, this is the correct blade. If you are cutting old cured concrete or hard masonry, use the VCT B1 VCT1535030.
Machine Compatibility
The VCT B1 (VCT1535080) fits floor saws, road saws, and walk-behind cutting machines with a 25.4mm (1-inch) arbour — standard on most 350mm road and floor saws used on South African sites. Always verify your machine’s maximum disc diameter and rated operating speed. Your machine’s rated speed must not exceed 4,366 RPM.
This blade is not suitable for hand-held angle grinders. For angle grinder applications on new concrete or masonry, see the 230mm VCT Segmented Diamond Blade in our construction range.
Safety & PPE
Operating a 350mm blade on a road saw or floor saw requires strict adherence to safety procedures. Always observe the following:
- Connect and confirm adequate water flow before cutting begins — do not run this blade dry
- Wear a full face shield and safety glasses throughout the operation
- Use hearing protection — road saws generate sustained high noise levels
- Wear waterproof outerwear, rubber boots, and cut-resistant gloves
- Wear an appropriate dust mask when cutting slurry dries on the surrounding surface
- Inspect the blade before each use — check for missing segments, cracks, or steel core deformation
- Never exceed the maximum operating speed of 4,366 RPM
- Ensure the blade is correctly mounted, the guard is in position, and the machine is stable before starting
