Diamond Cutting Blades for Granite and Marble

Cutting granite and marble demands a different approach to construction materials. These are dense, hard natural stones where chipping, micro-cracking, and rough edges waste expensive slabs and damage polished surfaces. The wrong blade on granite can ruin a tombstone face, crack a countertop edge, or destroy a polished tile in a single pass.

Vus Cutting Technology stocks a focused range of diamond cutting blades purpose-engineered for granite, marble, and similar natural stone applications. Used by tombstone manufacturers, kitchen and bathroom countertop fabricators, stonemasons, and tile installers across Gauteng and beyond, our granite and marble blades are available in 115mm, 230mm, and 400mm diameters to cover every machine and application from small angle grinders to large bridge saws and slab cutting machines.

Choosing the Right Blade

T-Segment vs Segmented Diamond Blades

The most important choice when selecting a granite or marble diamond blade is the segment type. Each is designed for a different priority:

    • T-Segment blades feature a distinctive T-shaped segment profile with deeper gullets between segments. The wider base of each segment increases surface contact with the stone while the gullets allow heat and debris to escape freely, delivering faster, cleaner cuts on granite and marble with less risk of thermal cracking. Best suited to thicker slabs, production workshop environments, and applications where cut speed and blade life matter. Available in 230mm.
    • Segmented blades use a standard straight segment profile with open gullets. They are versatile, fast-cutting, and well-suited to general granite and marble work where maximum precision is not required — rough profiling, sizing slabs, and preparatory cuts before finishing. Available in 230mm, 350mm, 400mm, and 500mm.

Blade Size

    • 115mm blades fit standard angle grinders and are used for detail work, edge trimming, profiling, and working on smaller granite and marble pieces.
    • 230mm blades offer greater depth and are suited to thicker slabs and heavier production workloads on a large-disc angle grinder or compact table saw. Available in T-Segment.
    • 350mm blades are designed for bridge saws and large slab machines used in high-volume fabrication workshops. Ideal for full granite slab work for tombstones and countertops.
    • 400mm blades are designed for bridge saws and large slab machines used in high-volume fabrication workshops. Ideal for full granite slab work for tombstones and countertops.
    • 500mm blades are designed for bridge saws and large slab machines used in high-volume fabrication workshops. Ideal for full granite slab work for tombstones and countertops.

Wet vs Dry on Granite

Wet cutting is strongly recommended for all granite and marble applications. Water cools the blade, prevents thermal shock cracking in the stone, reduces silica dust, and significantly extends blade life. Dry cutting is possible for short cuts but will wear the blade faster, increase the risk of chipping, and produce hazardous silica dust that requires full respiratory protection.

Applications

Our granite and marble diamond blades are used across a wide range of stone fabrication and installation work, including:

    • Tombstone cutting, shaping, and sizing for the monument and memorial industry
    • Kitchen and bathroom granite and marble countertop fabrication
    • Marble floor tile and wall cladding cutting and installation
    • Architectural stone feature work and decorative stone panels
    • Custom granite and marble furniture and interior design pieces
    • Edge profiling, trimming, and repair of existing stone installations
    • Granite and marble workshop production cutting

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the same blade for both granite and marble?

Generally yes — the blades in this range are designed for hard natural stone and will work on both granite and marble. However, marble is softer and more prone to chipping than granite. For polished marble work, use the continuous rim 115mm blade and cut wet to minimise the risk of edge chipping.

What is the difference between the T-Segment and Continuous Rim 115mm blades?

The T-Segment blade cuts faster and runs cooler, making it better suited to thicker cuts and higher-volume work where cut speed is important. The Continuous Rim blade cuts slower but produces a finer, chip-free edge finish, making it the correct choice when the quality of the cut edge is critical.

What machine do I need for the 400mm blade?

The 400mm blade is designed for bridge saws and large stone-cutting machines. It is not suitable for use on angle grinders. Contact us to confirm the correct arbour size and RPM rating for your machine before ordering.

Do you supply blades in bulk for production workshops?

Yes. We supply tombstone manufacturers, countertop fabricators, and stone workshops across South Africa. Contact us on 083 680 2979 or sales@vusct.co.za for bulk pricing and delivery.
