Product Details

Achieve a professional mirror finish on granite and marble in three passes — faster, simpler, and without compromising on finish quality.

The Vus Cutting Technology 3-Step Diamond Polishing Pads are a resin bond wet polishing system designed for stonemasons, tombstone fabricators, and countertop installers who need consistent, high-gloss results with a faster turnaround than traditional multi-stage polishing sequences. Compared with seven-step polishing pads, 3-step diamond pads deliver the same polishing performance in only 50% of the grinding and polishing time.

Each set contains three pads — Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3 — moving from coarse material removal through to a fine pre-polish finish, ready for the final mirror stage with PG15 Granite Powder Oxide.

How the 3-Step System Works

When you run a diamond pad across stone, the exposed diamond particles scratch the surface at a controlled depth determined by the grit size. Coarser grits cut deep and remove more material, while finer grits cut shallower and leave smaller scratches. Each successive grit in the sequence removes the scratch pattern left by the previous pad, until the scratches are too small for the eye to detect and the surface reflects light evenly. Defusco

The 3-step system compresses this process into three calibrated stages:

Step 1 — Coarse: Removes grinding marks, tool lines, and surface scratches left by the Diamond Turbo Cup Wheel. Opens the stone surface and prepares it for refinement.

Step 2 — Medium: Refines the surface left by Step 1, removing coarse scratch patterns and bringing the stone to a smooth, consistent hone finish.

Step 3 — Fine: Removes the medium scratch pattern and brings the stone to a high sheen, ready for final polishing with PG15 Granite Powder Oxide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need all three steps on every job? If you’re working on a surface that’s already smooth, you can start at a higher grit — but on raw or scratched granite, always start from Step 1 and work your way up. Skipping steps will leave visible scratch marks in the final finish. Defusco

Can I use these pads dry? These pads are designed for wet use. Water cooling is recommended during polishing to protect the stone surface from heat stress and to extend the working life of the pads.

What angle grinder do I need? These pads use a Velcro backing and fit any M14 angle grinder with a compatible Velcro Pad Holder or Rubber Backing Pad. Both are available in our Granite & Marble Polishing Products range.

Can these be used on marble? Yes. Softer stones like marble can move through the sequence faster without requiring every intermediate step. Use lighter pressure on marble, especially on Step 1, to avoid over-cutting the surface. Defusco

What comes after Step 3? After completing Step 3, apply PG15 Granite Powder Oxide with a suitable felt pad to achieve the final deep mirror finish. The PG15 stage should only be done once all scratch marks from the pad sequence have been completely removed.
